As with any new products we launch, we’re eager to continue engaging with the Dasher community for their feedback as we continue to improve the dashing experience. This latest improvement to the Dasher experience comes on the heels of our biggest-ever update to the way Dashers earn during our inaugural product showcase, Dash Forward, last month. We anticipate scaling to all Dashers in the coming months, and are exploring adding even more functionality. Our CarPlay integration will be piloted in select markets next week. Once they connect their phone to their car via Bluetooth or USB (depending on what their car supports), directions displayed in the Dasher app will automatically be shown on their vehicle’s screen. To use this new integration, Dashers need the Dasher app for iOS and a vehicle that supports CarPlay. We’re thrilled to bring this integration to life and eager to hear feedback from Dashers as we scale.” “Apple CarPlay is one of our most highly requested features among the Dasher community, because it allows them to dash using the same technology many of them use on a daily basis. “We’re always looking for ways to make dashing even better, even easier, and even more intuitive,” said Austin Haugen, Vice President of Dasher and Logistics Product. This creates a more streamlined and seamless dashing experience, with less time focused on their phone and more time focused on the road. Reuters Apple Widget is a good, free Mac program, that is part of the category Utilities with subcategory Dashboard. Integrating the Dasher app with Apple CarPlay will allow Dashers to seamlessly show the app’s navigation interface on their car’s built-in screens. The latest information on your Dashboard. and I WANT THOSE STEPS.With Apple CarPlay, drivers can sync their iPhone’s interface with their car’s built-in entertainment and information systems, helping drivers use key apps while reducing phone interactions. I have to carry my phone playing basketball if I want those steps and risk breaking it on somebody's hip. I love the Fitbit platform, and I think they need to get it onto additional devices/operating systems and bring people in that way. To run Dash Wallet iOS app on your device or simulator clone the repo and make sure you installed needed Requirements. the Surge is not a smartwatch (or super watch or whatever), it's a fitness device that happens to provide basic additional functions. I'm personally of the opinion that somebody in the market for an Apple Watch is not going to buy a Fitbit instead (and vice-versa), the price points are just that different. With OS 2 coming out this fall, they'd have access to the full device and essentially be able to have an additional Fitbit without the R&D, just build out the app! They could make the Apple Watch the best Fitbit (maybe they are planning and we don't know it, but I'm not optimistic), and yet it's completely shut off. I love the run tracking with the GPS on the phone (and being able to trigger that from a wrist-mounted device once I've put the phone in my zip up pocket or Flip Belt would be HUGE) and being able to see all that after the fact. Working with the watch would keep people in the Fitbit world despite the fact that they may no longer have an actual Fitbit (much like my 5s and 6+ have done in between having the Force and the Charge HR before getting the watch) and keep people engaged with the platform. I don't use Fitbit premium myself, but I do have an Aria scale and love having all this data in one place and having a friend list for competition and so on. We can still use our phones to use MobileTrack (which I do b/c I like the app and the community aspect), but can't pull in the data from the watch? It's just plain dumb. It's amazing to me that we can't use the Apple Watch with the Fitbit app, or sync data with HealthKit - seems to be incredibly short-sighted on Fitbit's part. Reviving this thread as it's been a bit of an annoyance for me for awhile now as well.
